Development Director

Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is ranked 13th globally. It is also placed 1st amongst the world’s best young universities. The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at NTU is a national science Research Centre of Excellence. Its mission is to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, toward safer and more sustainable societies.

The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) is seeking a resourceful, experienced and energetic individual to work with the University’s Development Office on matters relating to the EOS Endowment Fund. The incumbent will report to the Director of EOS, assuming the responsibilities stated below.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Identify and secure funding opportunities
Create and implement a development plan that details how the organization solicits donors and identifies funding sources such as grants, in-kind donations, charitable events and marketing opportunities
Work closely with senior leadership and the Governing Board and personally solicit for donor’s support
Involve in the structural build of a development office in a best-in-class environment and bring a rigorous, systematic approach to creating a network of potential donors for EOS
Clearly communicate the aims of EOS and the short and long-term impact that the ROI donations will make to communities at risk of geo-hazards
Act as a peer within a high performing leadership team, the Governing Board & NTU stakeholders and to operate as the ‘face’ of EOS in initial interactions with benefactors and corporations
Work effectively with the Office of Sustainability and the Community Engagement team as corporate and marketing events are conceived and implemented

Requirements: 

Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or nonprofit leadership
Ideally bring a strong professional career in a development capacity and evidence a track record of building a global network of potential donors and substantive success in fundraising
Other experience, competencies and personality traits include, but not limited to the below
Public relations, prospecting, business development and negotiation
High quality written and verbal communication skills are of significant importance

Ability to interact at the executive level
