Research Fellow (Active Tectonics)

The Earth Observatory of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow in active tectonics. The successful candidate will work in a vibrant scientific department, participating in research deployments of high-end scientific instrumentation to areas around Southeast Asia. The candidate will work under the supervision of Assistant Professor Judith Hubbard with a team of international scientists to collect data supporting earthquake research.

We seek a Research Fellow with demonstrable experience in field geology, structural geology, and active tectonics. We would prefer someone with experience with (1) integrating seismic reflection data with field geology, (2) ArcGIS, MOVE, and GoCAD softwares, and (3) experience doing fieldwork in SE Asia. The successful candidate will work with the Structural Geology team to assess fault geometry and activity in Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and/or surrounding regions using seismic reflection imaging, geological mapping, boreholes, surface deformation, and other techniques.

Requirements: 

Ph.D. in Geology or a related field
Experience with geological fieldwork, especially as relates to tectonics and active deformation
Enthusiasm, good team work, good communication, an interest in international travel, an ability to problem solve, and an ability to conduct independent research
Experience with seismic reflection data, ArcGIS, MOVE, GoCAD, and SE Asia fieldwork
