Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is ranked 13th globally. It is also placed 1st amongst the world’s best young universities. The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at NTU is a national science Research Centre of Excellence. Its mission is to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, toward safer and more sustainable societies. The Observatory’s Ocean Exploration Laboratory is developing cutting-edge technology to monitor tsunami, earthquake, and volcanic activity in the ocean to complete our extensive land-based networks in Southeast Asia. Our broad goal is to map the oceans with autonomous surface vehicles to reveal the remaining unknown landscapes of our planet. We invite applicants for a Research Fellow position in marine geophysics who will work on the project to develop and use marine geodetic system on autonomous marine robots, the Wavegliders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop equipment for mapping with autonomous surface vehicles
- Analyze and interpret geophysical data acquired during surveys
- Write papers and publish these results in peer reviewed journals and present results at international conferences
- Actively participate in discussions with PhD students and EOS faculty members
