Special Projects Liaison

Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is ranked 13th globally. It is also placed 1st amongst the world’s best young universities. The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at NTU is a national science Research Centre of Excellence. Its mission is to conduct fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, toward safer and more sustainable societies. The Assistant Manager (Special Projects Liaison) is a part of the Community Engagement team and is responsible for supporting the Director’s specific outreach projects with the goal of building EOS’ permanent presence and contribution within Singapore and across Southeast Asia. The Liaison will also support the Communications team, providing support in the form of coordination, tracking and sharing of research papers across all EOS channels, reporting, and supporting media outreach and blog writing for the EOS Blog.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Primary liaison between EOS scientists and the CE office for new and upcoming researchpapers, organizing, labeling, tracking and sharing published papers
Coordinate KPI details and reports for funding partners including MOE, NRF and NTU
Build and maintain faculty partners list to better track who we work with throughout the region and the level of our partnerships
Work closely with Communications Manager to support crisis communications plan for outreach and dissemination
Work with research groups and Digital Communications Specialist to support updates and additions to research projects noted on the EOS website
Contribute story ideas and writing expertise for institutional blogs and website content
Work with the Director, Community Engagement and key research leads to organize logistics and coordination of special exhibition installations at key museums, regional community centers and tourism outlets including:
Tsunami Museum installation
Science Centre Singapore exhibition redesign and update
Laos Tourism

Application: 

BS in Science, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Liberal Arts, or related field
Two to Four (2-4) years of experience in a university, museum or nonprofit setting, research, social media, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and training
Project management and digital communication skills are a plus
Writing and editing skills
Report management and accountability
Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
Ability to multitask, balance multiple projects, and work within tight timelines
Personable and possess good interpersonal skills to engage and interact with a wide variety of individuals in a warm, collaborative manner
Able to deal with pressure in a flexible and graceful manner
Excellent verbal, written and time management skills
