The AHA Centre formalised a Memorandum of Intent (MoI) with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, through the Earth Observatory of Singapore, reinforcing a shared commitment to advancing disaster management and emergency response across ASEAN. Signed by the Executive Director of the AHA Centre, Mr Lee Yam Ming, and the Interim Director of the Earth Observatory of Singapore, Professor Emma Hill, on 4 June 2026 at the AHA Centre office in Jakarta, the partnership highlights the importance of science-driven, evidence-based approaches to strengthen regional preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
Through this collaboration, the AHA Centre and Earth Observatory Singapore will integrate scientific expertise and operational capabilities in areas such as disaster risk assessment, hazard modelling, geohazard monitoring, and decision-support systems. In the past few years, the Earth Observatory Singapore has supported the AHA Centre’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) by providing critical information, particularly during the emergency situation. By fostering knowledge exchange, capacity building, and innovation, the partnership underscores the value of collective action in building a more resilient ASEAN and enabling faster, more effective humanitarian responses for communities across the region.
