Eruptions of Lokon volcano, Sulawesi, Indonesia

Lokon is a stratovolcano located in Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is one of the most active volcanoes in the region, with hundreds of eruptive events and ash plumes in the past decades.

Lokon has erupted about forty times in September 2012, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB). The volcano kept erupting throughout October. Lokon produced mostly ash plumes in historical times, but explosive eruptions have also occurred.
