Cross-Bedding in Coyote Buttes, Arizona, USA

These large-scale cross-bedded sandstone formations in Coyote Buttes, Arizona, USA, were formed by ancient windblown dunes in the desert. The top of these dunes were cut off during the sand dune migrations and the rock was later uplifted by tectonic movement. They were further shaped by surface water and the wind to form the current wavy landscape.
