Uplifted Coral Reef Terraces at Sumba Islands
At the Sumba Islands in Indonesia, researchers found these uplifted coral reef terraces 500 metres above sea level. Such features indicate past sea levels, and can be dated by studying the chemical composition of the corals. With such studies, scientists are working to yield more accurate indications of sea-level changes at the transition between oceanic subduction and arc-continent collision.
