On the Diversity of Seismic Signals Associated with Submarine Eruptions
Event Type: Seminar
Date: 12 October 2021, 13:00 to 15:00
About the Event
In May 2018, a strong episode of seismicity started in Mayotte (Comoros archipelago), which was widely felt by the inhabitants of the island, in an area that was considered to be moderately active seismically. A year later, a new volcanic structure
of 800m high was discovered 50km east of Mayotte during a scientific campaign. We analyzed the different types of seismicity to get clues about the mechanisms of the Mayotte volcanic system and its evolution.;
