The Climate Impact Asia premiere celebrates the launch of a new documentary series created by EOS film director Liz Courtney in collaboration with the award-winning global factual media company CuriosityStream, and available on StarHub channel 422 in South-East Asia. Climate Impact Asia is an insightful 4-part documentary series that looks at the critical impacts of our changing climate systems on Southeast Asia. The series follows a team of climate scientists from the Earth Observatory of Singapore across four key storylines that will have critical impact on our region in the coming decade: sea level rise, coastal hazards, food security, and tectonic & volcanic activity.

About the Speakers

Sylvia Earle

Dr Sylvia Earle is President and Chairman of Mission Blue / The Sylvia Earle Alliance. She is a National Geographic Society Explorer in Residence, and is called Her Deepness by the New Yorker and the New York Times, Living Legend by the Library of Congress, and first Hero for the Planet by Time Magazine. She is an oceanographer, explorer, author and lecturer with experience as a field research scientist, government official, and director for several corporate and non-profit organizations. Benjamin Horton

Dr Benjamin Horton is a professor at the Asian School of the Environment, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Director of the Earth Observatory of Singapore. His research concerns sea-level change. He aims to understand the mechanisms that have determined sea-level changes in the past, and which will shape changes in the future. Professor Horton’s research impacts upon important ethical, social, economic and political problems facing such coastal regions.

Rodel Lasco

Dr Rodel Lasco is Executive Director of the Oscar M. Lopez Center in the Philippines and the 2007 co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. He has more than 40 years of experience in natural resources and environmental research, conservation, education and development. His work has focused on issues related to natural resources conservation, climate change and land degradation.He pioneered research in the Philippines on climate change adaptation in the natural resources sector, and the role of tropical forests in climate change.

Jorge Franzini

Jorge Franzini is the VP of Original Content Development and Programming for Curiosity Inc., the world’s first streaming service for nonfiction programming. Franzini's focus is on the development and programming of original content for Curiosity Stream and Curiosity Channels, as well as international co-productions.

Liz Courtney

Liz Courtney is an international speaker, film director, educator and a senior marketing communications director who changed her stilettos for snow boots to travel the world to direct a series on climate change. In this process, she initiated several innovative digital media projects under her umbrella, Youth4Planet. To direct her series on climate change, The Tipping Points, she worked with leading scientists from NASA and IPCC. Liz has given keynote speeches in Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Australia.
