A geodetic study of sinking cities and subsiding deltas in East and Southeast Asia

We are building a holistic understanding of regional sea-level change that includes influences from both land-height and sea-surface change. Towards this, we are using geodetic (GPS and InSAR) data to study the rates and sources of groundwater-related subsidence in cities around Asia. In a connected study, we will use SAR data to study flood events in the region. We are working towards an understanding of tectonic sea level change. We are studying changes in sea-surface height using tide gauges and satellite altimetry. And we will build a network of coastal GPS stations that can be used, with innovative processing techniques, to study both land-height and sea-surface changes around the South China Sea.
