Project Overview

The understanding of Holocene relative sea-level (RSL) change in Southeast Asia is fragmentary. We will use geological proxies to reconstruct RSL at ±<0.2m vertical="" and="" decadal-to-centennial="" temporal="" resolution="" in="" indonesia="" and="" malaysia.="" we="" will="" place="" the="" new="" and="" existing="" reconstructions="" in="" a="" bayesian="" statistical="" framework="" and="" compare="" with="" models="" of="" glacial="" isostatic="" adjustment.="" we="" will="" (1)="" constrain="" global="" mean="" sea="" level;="" (2)="" attribute="" spatial="" and="" temporal="" variability="" of="" holocene="" rsl="" to="" atmosphere-ocean="" dynamics="" and/or="" ice="" mass="" balance,="" and="" (3)="" compare="" the="" rate="" of="" rsl="" rise="" since="" ~1850="" ce="" to="" other="" centennial="" trends="" during="" the="">
